Samsung Launches Pixon 12, 12MP Cameraphone

In keeping with its brand positioning of ‘NEXT is What?’ Samsung has just launched their first handset with a 12MP camera and full touch screen functionality, the Pixon12 (M8910) in the Indian market. The Pixon12 comes packed with a host of functions which enable consumers to easily capture, browse and share their images on the move.

Announcing the launch of PIXON12 in the Indian market, stated Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Telecom Division, “The PIXON12 is another example of the Samsung’s commitment to developing ground breaking products based on consumer needs. Speedy access to the camera mode, fast shutter speed and quick browsing, face tag and photo tag sorting are some of the key factors that consumers are looking for in their mobile phone cameras. Samsung PIXON12 holds the answer to these pressing consumer needs and more.”

The handset with feature -

• a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 10000:1 contrast and a 480 x 800 pixel resolution
• 3G support, EDGE/GPRS
• Wi-Fi
• BLUETOOTH 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro)
• GPS with A-GPS support and Geo-Tagging
• 12MP camera with a Xenon and an LED flash
• DivX and XviD video format support
• TV Out

The handset’s camera will also allow for video recording at a 720 x 480 pixel resolution at 30fps, it’s not Omnia HD but it’ll do. Other features will also include - a 28mm wide-angle lens, tracking Touch Auto Focus, Smart Auto mode for adjusting the light to ambiance, Face, Smile and Blink detection, WDR, beauty shot, quite a few scene modes and even image stabilization. That’s a long list.

And now for the clincher. This rather complete, well rounded handset is priced at just Rs. 29,990. Don’t that just beat all. But, yes, there's a but, that price doesn't include any substantial internal memory which means you'll have to invest in a memory card, not that that's an expensive investment these days, so it's all good.
